The following article will help you identify the number of fragments in your QuickBooks company file, and reduce the number of fragments to improve performance. To see how much your QuickBooks company database (DB) file is fragmented:
Open the file in QuickBooks and press F2 to open the Product Information screen. Look at the number of DB File Fragments. It is normal to see some file fragments.
However, if the number of file fragments is greater than 100, your file may be fragmented enough to noticeably affect performance. If this is the case, we recommend performing a QuickBooks Verify Data and then a Rebuild Data:
